CECHCR 2010 Health Care Summit

CECHCR's 3rd Annual Summit Held May 3
Attended by over 50 representatives of health care decision-makers, policymakers and other stakeholders, CECHCR's 2010 Health Care Summit focused on three issues of interest to the public education community:

  • National Health Reform
  • Pharmaceutical Transparency
  • Statewide Risk Pool for Public Education

Utilizing a new format that included one presenter and two reactors followed by a facilitated discussion among participants, each issue was explored in some depth with a variety of perspectives shared and discussed on each issue. Keynote presenations were made by Leslie Cummings, Executive Director of the California Managed Risk Medical Insurance Board (MRMIB) on the national health reform bill, Ramon Castellblanch, Assistant Professor of Health Education at San Francisco State University on the need for research-based information on prescription drugs and the Drug Effectiveness Review Project operating in 11 states outside of California, and CECHCR Co-Chairs Ruben Ingram and Cindy Young on CECHCR's new position paper and model design for a Statewide Public Education Risk Pool.  Full Summit Program

CECHCR would especially like to thank Beth Capell and Anthony Wright for stepping in a the last minute as reactors during the federal health reform discussion.

The Summit is made possible by grant funding from the California HealthCare Foundation and The California Endowment.
